> Day Etch is a private memory journal and digital legacy platform. One day — one permanent entry. After midnight (in your time zone), entries can no longer be edited. No likes, no public feeds, no social graph. Built for honest memory and long-term inheritance by your descendants.

## Core principles

- **One day, one memory.** A single entry per day, made permanent at midnight.
- **Private by default.** Records are encrypted and visible only to you.
- **Family archive.** Each user has a unique Etch Code; confirmed relatives form a digital family tree.
- **Project Legacy.** After a period you choose, your journal becomes viewable by direct descendants only.
- **Anti-commercial language.** We say "Participation" instead of "Subscription" and "Join" instead of "Buy".
